Remove the spindle nuts using a 9/16" wrench. Then remove the spindle and brake shield, see photos 9 and 10. Now the axleshaft will pull out, see photo 11. Remove the upper ball joint nut using a 1 5/16" wrench. Dont smack the arm itself use a piece of round stock to apply the "shock" to the same part you where heating. Also what are you using to remove it?
