We went to the State Park at Hapuna which was listed as the largest white sand beach on Hawaii but there was a fee and it was crowded so we continued north on SH 19 and came to a gated resort called Mauna Loa and asked if there was public access to thier beach.The guard at the gate said they allow 40 public vehicles per day to enter at no charge for all day. It’s a short walk of about 300 yards on a paved path from the lot.
