Marlin model 60 upgrade

I’ve had these sights on my Grandfathers 1977 marlin/glenfield model 60 for 7-8 years. I haven’t used the rifle in 4 years, because the feed throat broke. After replacing the feed throat and upgrading the cartridge lifter to the new style and refinishing the whole rifle last week, I’ve come to really appreciate these tech sights!

Marlin did not serialize the model 60 until 1968, so if yours is older than that, you can check the date code on the barrel. The date code is located just ahead of the receiver on the left side of the rifle. Marlin's trigger return spring design is definately the cause of most of problem. The force needed to over-come the pressure of the return spring is why some of these rifles have a 20# pull to begin with. Many say that their model 60 has a great trigger pull right out of the box. The first photo shows a newer action with the LSHO lever on top and an older action without this feature on bottom. If your rifle has the LSHO lever check that the spring is in place as shown in photo 3. Yes, my Marlin 60 is a newer model. Mostly due to forcing the action back into the stock without locking the bolt back. Look up Marlin 60 nickel trick on YouTube to get the proper adjustment, which is done with needle nose pliers. I find Marlin 60's are more accurate than a Ruger 10/22 out of the box.I have two Marlin 60s with the plastic trigger guards.
