I found some red fluid under my jeep today that looks to be transmission fluid. It is leaking from the area where the transfer case and transmission connect. From what I've been reading, the seals quite often break or crack or whatever. There are no noises or any such thing ...2009 C300 transfer case leak. Just took it in for it's routine "B" service. The dealership tells me that the transfer case is leaking, and will cost $2000 to fix. The car has 43k miles on it, and unfortunately no warranty, as I bought it used from the dealer, at 15k miles.

There is no seal in the back of the trans; only the gasket between the units keeps the oil in. The t-case has a seal. If the original gasket is in there, it could be loose bolts. I very much doubt stop leak will do squat for you. I think there is only 1 paper seal in the transfer case, everything else is rubber from what I can remember. Stop leak will def not work for a crack in the case.Just monitor it. Check trans level, and drain t-case every so often. That'll let you know the leak rate, the amount drained is the amount the tranny is low.
